Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. – Nov. 28, 2025 – Winbond Electronics Corporation (TWSE: 2344) today held a "Sustainable Supply Chain Management Forum" with the theme entitled “Endless Sustainability: Building a New Chapter of Sustainability for Enterprises and Supply Chains with Circular Materials." In the forum, Winbond rallied over 400 suppliers to join forces to make the event a success, demonstrating the company’s determination and commitment towards sustainability. This is the sixth large-scale empowerment event to promote a sustainable supply chain. Winbond shared the latest sustainable trends and practical experience each year, guiding suppliers to be part of its sustainability initiative through "Go Green and Circular".
In response to the upcoming “2050 Circular Economy Roadmap” to be released in 2026 by the Taiwan Government, Winbond is cooperating with the Center for Green Economy of Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) and the Business Council for Sustainable Development Taiwan to guide suppliers on circular instructions. Meanwhile, ChipMOS TECHNOLOGIES INC, recognized for its outstanding performance in the green sector, was invited to share its valuable experience in enhancing operational resilience through circular economy practices. Winbond highlighted that even though energy conservation is the top priority in achieving net-zero, it will continue to adopt a diversified strategy to enhance suppliers’ sustainable capabilities and drive sustainable development going forward.
In addition, for the first time, Winbond awarded “Outstanding Low-Carbon Supplier” to the 13 suppliers that participated in the “low-carbon and smart transformation project”. Since its launch in September 2023, the project—driven by strong government leadership and close collaboration with 13 supplier partners—has far exceeded expectations. Originally targeting a reduction of 5,866 tons of CO₂e within two years, by the end of August 2025, we had already completed over 30 carbon reduction initiatives, including process gas emission cuts, water-saving measures in ammonia-nitrogen systems, and supply chain net-zero programs. The total reduction reached an impressive 19,995 tons of CO₂e, equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of 52 Daan Forest Parks, surpassing the original goal by 240%. The chief secretary of Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Chen, Kuo-Shiuan, also attended the award ceremony to witness the symbolic significance of this project in the industrial carbon reduction roadmap.
Winbond’s Sustainable Supply Chain team operates under Chairman Arthur Chiao’s guiding belief that sustainability is a multi-dimensional concept. The team continues to advance the company’s green and low-carbon initiatives—promoting supplier carbon inventories, driving the “Large Leads Small” program, partnering with the Institute for Information Industry to introduce the PACT carbon information-sharing framework, and leveraging Winbond’s carbon accounting system to strengthen Scope 3 data collection. In addition, Winbond encourages departments across the organization to contribute ideas from a supply chain management perspective and explore diverse pathways to reduce emissions. On the social inclusion front, the company remains focused on advancing human rights due diligence throughout the supply chain. Looking ahead, Winbond plans to expand collaborations with suppliers on charitable initiatives and low-carbon management, with circular economy principles at the core, aiming to lead by example and inspire deeper cross-sector cooperation across the supply chain to jointly advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
